Why are these pants sizes out of rage yet still fit me perfectly? (Read full description before answering)?

I have a pants size of 10 that fit me perfectly. Then a size 30 that fits me perfectly too. Then a size 5. What's with all these numbers?? Why are they so different from each other?? Please explain.
