Do people still knit/crochet?

I am a self taught crochet person. cant read how to patterns if i wanted to. I am 40 yrs old (not 50+) but when my daughter was in 4 th grade, the teacher's mom, having just lost her husband, brought her into class to teach the kids how to knit. so i crochet and my daughter knits.
