Shouldn't I feel safer that I live in a country where the right to keep and bare arms is not abridged?

Here I am allowed to own a fully automatic weapon. I have bough an AK 47 for about 500 cordobas which is a little less than 25 bucks. Yet when I see other people have them too I do not feel any safer than when I did not have one. It is all about who pulls the trigger first and worse they are more likely to use theirs if they see mine.
