I'm looking for sheet music to a certain song, and I see editions that either say "arranged" or "edited"...?

Which of the two should be closest to the original composition? Just like reading and abridged book, I hate playing pieces that are dulled down. I'm looking for piano pieces if that helps. Liszt's Mephisto Waltz in particular...
