How do i make my own t-shirts?

I'm not talking about making as in Screening or any of that, But infact to really MAKE my own t-shirt. I don't know if people Knit them, Or whatever but i want to like make my own shirt lol. But i don't know what people use. Do they knit them? Or something else? All help is appreciated.
